TRAVEL PROGRAMME
DAY 1.
Meeting at Vilnius Airport. Flight to Warsaw, transfer. Direct flight on a LOT Polish Airlines Dreamliner (Boeing 787) between Warsaw and Delhi.
DAY 2. NEW and OLD DELHI
Arrive in New Delhi, India's capital and an important political centre. The city's grandeur is reflected in its impressive monuments and imposing government buildings. New Delhi is a city of contrasts in modern India, where fabulous wealth and extreme poverty, history and modernity are juxtaposed. Sightseeing tour of Old Delhi: Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India, Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. We will walk through the Red Fort, a huge red sandstone citadel listed by UNESCO. Visit Chandni Chowk, the main street of the old city, home to a bustling market. Sightseeing tour of New Delhi: the Qutb Minar complex, which reflects Hindu and Islamic architectural influences, the Humayun's Mausoleum, the tomb of a 16th-century Mughal ruler. Both sites are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Walk to the Gateway of India, a 42-metre-high triumphal arch. Panoramic ride past the Parliament building and the Presidential Palace. Transfer to hotel. DAY 3. MANDAVA
Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel. Travel to MANDAV. After lunch, walk around the city, known as the open-air art gallery. The history of the city dates back to the 18th century, when the impressive frescoes used to decorate the facades of the houses of wealthy merchants, the havelis, were created. The extremely colourful and rich frescoes depict scenes of erotic and religious life. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.
DAY 4. RIGHT - BIKANERAS
Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel. Travel to Dessnaka. Visit to Karni Mata, a rat temple with several thousand rats. The rats are considered sacred and are worshipped and fed by pilgrims. Journey to BIKANERA, one of the three former kingdoms of Rajasthan, a city famous for its camel troops, the pride of the Indian army. In the afternoon, we visit the unconquered fort of Junagarh, hiding magnificent palaces and temples. We'll take a ride in autorickshaws - tuk-tuks - through the city's streets, among richly decorated havelis and traditional markets. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.
DAY 5. JAISALMER
Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel. Drive to Jaisalmer - the City of Gold - one of the most exotic places in Rajasthan. It is the legacy of a once mighty city at the crossroads of ancient trade routes. It is a fortress guarded by 99 bastions. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.
6 DINARS. JAISALMER
Breakfast. Visit the Jaysalmer Fortress, built of golden sandstone, picturesquely situated on an 80-metre-high hilltop. Magnificent palaces, Jain temples and richly decorated residences of former merchants. Amazingly, this is the only fortress in India that is still inhabited! In the afternoon, go camel riding through the dunes of Samos. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight.
DAY 7. JODHPUR
Breakfast. Check-out. Drive to Jodhpur - the Blue City, the second largest city in Rajasthan. The city offers one of the most spectacular views in Rajasthan, with an imposing fortress towering over the city and a maze of bustling streets and markets at its foot. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.
DAY 8. MANDORE - JODHPUR
Breakfast. Drive to MANDORA, the former capital of the Marwar kings, where you can admire the magnificent cenotaphs and a gallery of rock carvings of deities in its terraced gardens. On to Jodhpur. Journey to Mehrangarh Fortress, Rajasthan's most magnificent defensive structure, perched on a cliff more than 120 metres high. The fortress is home to a palace and a museum, with a rich collection of furniture and weapons, and a spectacular view of the blue-painted houses clustered at the foot of the cliff. Stroll through the streets of the old town. Take a ride on a tuk-tuk. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight.
DAY 9. RANAKPUR - UDAIPUR
Breakfast. Check-out. Journey to RANAKPUR, one of the most sacred sites of Jainism. Guided tour of the 15th-century temple complex, picturesquely set in a wooded valley. Visit to the Chaumukha Temple dedicated to Adinath. Built of white marble, the temple hides spectacular ornaments that almost completely cover its interior. The 1 444 columns are worth noting - each one is different. Journey to UDAIPUR, the City of the Rising Sun, considered the most romantic city in all of India. Its enchanting beauty, picturesque lakes and magnificent palaces delight visitors. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.
DAY 10. UDAIPUR
Breakfast. Ride along the shores of an artificial lake dating back to the 17th century. Sightseeing tour of UDAIPUR: visit the 17th-century Jagdish Temple, the 18th-century Saheliyon-ki-Bari, or Ladies' Garden of the Court, the Municipal Palace, and Rajasthan's largest royal residence. The complex includes a museum and a palace still inhabited by descendants of the former rulers, while others have been converted into luxury hotels. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on Lake Pichola to admire the magnificent palaces: the City Palace on the eastern shore and the Lake Palace, a former royal summer residence and now one of the finest hotels in the world, often used as a filming location for popular movies, including scenes from the James Bond film "Octopussy". Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight.
DAY 11. PUŠKAR
Breakfast. Check-out. Drive to Pushkar, a small town on the lake of the same name. It is one of India's most sacred cities, and of particular interest to Hindus, with one of the few temples dedicated to Brahma. Pushkar attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year. Hotel accommodation. Walk through the town, along the lake and the ghats, the stone stepped structures on the banks of the river used for ritual ablutions. You will have the opportunity to observe religious rituals and watch a service at one of the local temples. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
DAY 12. JAIPUR
Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel. Drive to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known as the Pink City. The city's distinctive description comes from the colourful facades of the buildings in the old city, whose pink colour symbolises hospitality. Jaipur is also a city of magnificent palaces and markets, famous for its exquisite handicrafts. The city is also one of the largest goldsmithing and gem-cutting centres in India. DAY 13. AMERO FORT - JAIPUR
Breakfast. Journey to AMERO FORT, the former seat of the rulers. We travel by elephant or jeep to the hill on which the impressive fort stands. We will see the magnificent defensive walls and the palace within the fort. Afternoon tour of JAIPUR: We will visit the City Palace, a royal residence with a museum and the UNESCO-listed Jantar Mantar Observatory. Walk to the Palace of the Winds, the most recognisable building in the city, with its original facade decorated with hundreds of windows. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 14. FATEHPUR SIKRI
Breakfast. Check-out. Travel to FATEHPUR SIKRI - literally translated as City of Victory. We will visit the palace buildings of the city, which for 14 years was the capital of Akbar the Great's empire. Among the most beautiful of the many buildings reminiscent of the former grandeur are the private and public audience halls, the Grand Mosque, modelled on the Mosque in Mecca, and the five-storey Palace. Fatehpur Sikri was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. Journey to Agra. Hotel accommodation, dinner, overnight.
DAY 15. AGRA - DELIS
Breakfast. Check-out. Visit Agra, the former capital of the Mughals: the Taj Mahal, one of the most romantic places in the world, designed as a token of love for a woman. Built in the first half of the 17th century, this magnificent landmark of India has been recognised as one of the seven modern wonders of the world and is listed by UNESCO. Later, visit Agra Fort, a mighty red sandstone fortress, the imperial city surrounded by a 2.5 km wall. It is a masterpiece of design and construction, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel to Delhi. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
DAY 16.
Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel. Transfer to the airport. Flight to Warsaw, flight to Lithuania.
